Hurrah! Richard Stanier, AKA the 'Brochure King' is back after a worrying absence. And what's got him sending stuff to Biglorryblog again? Why the wonderful DAC of course. Richard tells me: "Hi Brian, I have been so busy with work just recently that I haven't been keeping up with the Blog, But Martin's posting on DAC trucks has spurred me into action."

He goes on to say: "DAC trucks are from the Romanian company, Autocamioane Brasov and they are the same people who brought us Roman trucks in the mid - late 1970's. I'm not quite sure why they use three names (DAC, Roman and AB) but they are still in business as their website attests "
"They have a new cab design on their website, but for many years they have used an updated version of the old MAN/Saviem design. Recent DAC trucks have been powered by a variety of engines including licence built MAN, Caterpillar, Detroit and International. I have enclosed a scan of their little 7.120 F four wheeler and a line up of their heavier tractors at a trade show."

"Autocamioane Brasov were also linked to the earlier Romanian Bucegi and Carpati trucks, and I have also attached a scan of a Carpati lorry from the late 1960's. This was basically a Russian Zil design and featured a V8 petrol engine!"
Now click through here for news of a Cat-powered ERF EC tractor...Richard's only gone and found me a picture of it!

And here it is. Richard says: "On a different note, I have been enjoying the postings on the ERF "Rezin Rocket" EC's powered by the less popular Detroit and Cat engines. Your request for a photo of the Cat powered EC 15 didn't seem to draw a response,so please have one on me (attached - and what a beauty!) I saw a Cat powered EC7 rigid at work in Manchester a month or two ago. Cheers, Richard."
Richard---you're an absolute star---and I remember driving the above beast at Truckfest with the legendary Derek Rafferty sat beside me. Happy days!.
