Word reaches Biglorryblog that Faymonville's Pendelmax excavator low-loader trailer (that's it above) has been given a new boost to its plant-carrying career with the adoption of a new swing-axle bogie and excavator trough which provides greater capability, manoeuvrability and increased suspension clearance among other things. And not a lot of people know that.

From 2008, the rear bogie of the Pendelmax boasts a rectangular trough as before but now with a higher part in the shape of a prism. The rectangular part can accommodate an excavator arm while the upper part is perfectly suitable as a support for round and long pieces of the wind turbine type or for tanks. As a result the trough is called a "combined trough". Apart from this change of shape, the new Pendelmax also offers a better steering angle thanks to a modification in the technology used.

Faymonville tells Biglorryblog: "We have changed over from a ball bearing system to pivot joint. With this new technology option, the Steering angle will be 60° compared to 50° in the past. This offers the advantage of maneuverability for transporting long elements. On the other hand in certain cases, when the layout permits, the rectangular trough is larger than the original over part of the length."
However, the advantages of the new Pendelmax don’t stop there. Oh no... the trailer maker insists: "We have also improved the suspension clearance which is now at 600mm instead of 450mm which allows the operator to get over a obstacles such as a roundabout or a kerb much easier. This optimisation of the suspension clearance also makes tyre changes easier too. And from next year all Pendelmax will be of this type. Flexibility is compulsory! But, there is more. From the second half of 2008, Faymonville will also offer a Pendelmax fitted with smaller tyres while maintaining the 12-tonnes per axle."
