Those jolly chaps at Hatcher tell me: "Volvo FL operators now have a choice of more sleeper variants thanks to the new Hatcher FL Sky Cab." And here's one they did earlier. Hatcher developed the top unit after a specific customer request---and since then more orders have followed from other FL operators. “The response has been excellent,” Hatcher MD Brian Getley tells me. He goes on to say: “The problem appears to be the sleeper cab space. Although the FL is a fine vehicle for what it is designed to do the cab is a bit of a compromise when it comes to the sleeper variant. The task we were set was to provide additional bunk capacity without any detriment to the crew environment.”
The FL Sky Cab can be specified as either a twin or triple bunk variant. The conversion includes lockable storage compartments, sunroof and reading lights. There is also a separate compartment for a night heater if required. Hatcher goes on to say that the immediate uptake in sales is due to the fact that "...Volvo dealers have been impressed with the conversion and are promoting it to their customers. The linings and fabrics match the original equipment so it really does look very neat. In addition the extra roof space makes it easy to stand and move around the vehicle, so it enhances the cab environment.". The additional weight of the conversion is just 190 Kg and roof height is taken to 3850 mm. The Sky Cab is finished in Volvo white but other colours can be specified.
And it looks rather nice too thinks BLB...and presumably you could get the same sort of thing on a renault Premium too...?
