Knowing that Bigloryblog likes his timber trucks (especially if there's a Western Star up the front) Rod Simmonds has sent me this selection fo snaps of the Burling Transport of Masterton's new bonneted eight-legger Western Star 580 powered by a Cummins Signature and with the de rigeur 18-speed Road Ranger manual stirrer.

And from the right side...meanwhile, not to be left out Burling's K104G (again with a 580 Signature) wanted to get in on the act, complete with a 55m3/25mt of dry timber. And what an immaculate beast it is. Burling (and its drivers) really do look after their rigs remarkably well

But speaking of Western Stars what do you make of this beauty...? It can be found of a fabulous website called xtrucking which has more shots of this white wonder. And I'd heartily recommend BLB readers check it out--and thanks to Rod for tipping me off to it.
The picture is by Dominic Teahan by the way.And now click through for a superb Scania tanker and 'the 'Grasshopper'!

Here it is---a handsome repainted R164-580 with a rebuilt chemical tanker, which is carefully driven by Paul Crooks (Grasshopper) all over North Island for North Bulk. And here's the man himself...

You can see why they call him Grasshopper anyway..and it's probably not because he starred in 'Kung Fu'.

The only thing that strikes me about this terrific tanker Rod is that the actual tank sits up rather high on the trailer chassis...haven't you guys ever heard of THOMAS? (For BLB readers who are wondering what I'm blathering on about, that's the Aussie made, square tanker trailer whose name was derived from: 'Tank Having Optimised Mass And Stability" 'THOMAS' geddit?) Anyway here's a question for Rod. Did they ever sell any THOMAS tank trailers in NZ? We had about a dozen or so in the UK which ran on supermarket fuel delivery contracts with, if I recall correctly, TDG.

think i,,d better get scanning my LOMAX brochure, then my THOMAS brochure too......plenty of scanning to do now......
