58 Superior Pontiac Criterion ambulance in Nevada.

1953 Pontiac combination

1960 Superior Pontiac in Tonopah, Nevada

Horse drawn hearse in Virginia City, Nevada.

This superior Cadillac was built for the US military.

This Caddy was found in southern Oklahoma.

A rare Henney-Packard hearse, in Junktown USA (aka French Lake Auto Parts)

1961 Buick Flxible Flxette limousine funeral coach.

This Caddilac was found in sun-drenched Arizona – but you wouldn’t think it to see the rust.

A Miller-Meteor-built Cadillac Classic Ambulance. As you can see, they were built well.

It looks like another Henney-Packard hearse to me.

Caddy hearse and matching mourners car. It’s common practice for the desert states to go for light colours (to reflect the heat and stop the bodies from smelling), although this picture was taken in Illinois.

This 53 Henney Packard was found near Pratt, Kansas.
And if you want more info on any of these hearses – or indeed are weird enough to want to see more pictures of abandoned American cars – then please take a look at my book Roadside Relics.
