Towncar v town car

OK, I know it's not a commercial vehicle, but I couldn't resist publishing this photo I took in New York City last weekend.
What an incredible contrast there is between the Lincoln Towncar and Europe's idea of a town car! Perhaps now that petrol costs slightly more than tap water in the States we'll see a few more sensibly-sized cars selling over there.

TootsNYC

That's a fun contrast!

I'm psyched because I get to test-drive a Smart Car in NYC next Tuesday; I think it's going to be fun.

If I didn't have 4 people in my family, the SmartCar as a "city car" would be a great idea, esp. when parking is so tight.

However, I found, even before kids, that the times I wanted a car were *also* times when I was traveling w/ several people. In NYC, *no* car is better than a Smart Car, actually.

I think in a road-commuting city like Cleveland or Omaha, a Smart Car would be a great commuter car. And a great car for a single person in almost *any* city except NYC.

I test drove a Smart Car last weekend and while there was no denying it was great fun, and easy to drive, and even the most powerful will do 50mpg, at 6'3" I didn't fit. The new dashboard (apparently to comply with US crash regs) hits your knees and makes it uncomfortable to sit in, let alone drive.
