Another mystery truck on Biglorryblog. is it a tug or a van on steroids?

Nick 1.JPG

Last week, as regular BLB readers will know Biglorryblog was busy playing with 'small-to-medium' size' lorries with (amongst others) Nick Santon, Iveco's genial product guru in the UK.

Nick 2.JPGUpon my return to the mad-house (i.e. Biglorryblog's palatial shed) Nick sent me these pictures and the following message: "A friend of mine has sent me the attached pics for identification and I must admit I don't know the manufacturer. My best bet is it is a home made possibly based on an aircraft tug! Maybe the biglorrybloggers know better?
Best regards, Nick." Well we can ask Nick can't we...so for a pie what is it?

And click through here for one last shot of this mystery mover....

George:

Sorry I can't name the beast but I know the location. It is Braunston marina. I have looked at it closely on several occasions and it looks vaguely eastern european to me.

D. Powell:

As I assume the truck is LHD (not clear from photos) it looks like an old USAF aircraft tug that has been fitted with a van body by the showman. I think that some had a built in Ground Power Unit (engine and generator) to power the aircraft electrics while being towed.
There were several makers and all of which looked fairly similar (I believe FMC may have been one.
