Dalek or self-propelled cherry picker...I can't tell the difference says Biglorryblog. And when do I get a go of one?

BannerPlant_01_jpg.jpg

Is it me or is there something vaguely science-fiction about these self-propelled cherry pickers? Sort of like a Dalek that didn't quite go right...anyway whatever strange thoughts come from Biglorryblog's over-fertile imagination I can tell you that I keep dropping hints for someone to let me have a go of one...but so far no offers of pantomime.

So you'll just have to be content knowing that Sheffield-based Banner Plant has taken delivery of three Volvo rigids mounted with Andover Trailers plant bodies, for hauling its specialist kit to various construction sites around the UK. (or a Dalek whichever is required at the time).

The 26 and 32-tonners join an existing nine-strong mixed vehicle fleet (all fitted with Andover Trailers plant bodies, well naturally) supplied by the Hampshire-based manufacturer over the last five years. www.andovertrailers.co.uk Meanwhile, click through here for more...

The bespoke-built 9.7m long plant bodies include a full width ramp and hydraulic steady legs, together with a double crank beavertail to make loading and unloading easier.  They also feature extendable body ramp sidelights for maximum visibility when wide loads are carried, as well as a hydraulic Ramsey winch and tool boxes for each vehicle. The Andover 'safety ladder' system was also fitted to give the driver safe and easy access to the body deck.

Peter Whithorn, company service manager at Banner Plant, tells BLB: "We've operated vehicles with Andover Trailers bodywork for the last five years and they've lived up to their reputation for strength and versatility, so we opted for them again. Andover Trailers employs skilled craftsmen who pay close attention to detail and this shines through in the finished product. Quality can be found in every aspect of the body design and construction."

Peter goes on to say: "Our plant bodies need to be rugged as they are used to deliver vital pieces of plant off-road to the construction industry, so quality and reliability is key to our daily business. For us, the people at Andover Trailers make the difference as they know our business and the types of equipment we need." Praise indeed...now come on give us a go on that cherry picker...

Hi there,

I need to do some maintenance work on my house and was considering renting a small cherry picker. Is that possible and how much would it cost?
Best regards,

Frank
