If it looks like a DUKW and quacks like a DUKW it may be something entirely different says Biglorryblog!

Question: What is the blogging comestible of choice? As you read this I've just polished off a half a packet of M&S Chilli Salsa and Lime hand-cooked crisps (well Mrs BLB is out) as an accompaniment to my 500ml bottle of Asahi 'Dry' Japanese beer---very tasty but you''ve got to chill it right down in the freezer just above zero degrees...So what's your favourite BLB browsing tipple? I suspect it's a decent wallop of red ned for Martin P, while Bob Tuck clearly enjoys something a touch more sophisticated. He's sent me this picture...and says: "Brian, your BLB Army do their best to provide you with photographs that no one else has seen and just to prove it I attach a selection from Sunny Singapore taken a couple of years back.. The DUKW came wandering past on the dry land part of its tour but I thought you'd also like the selection of that far off warm place." Hang on a minute Bob that's not a DUKW...a DUKW is based on a "Deuce-and-a-half" GMC and that's a 4x4...so it's a funny kind of DUCK to my mind..any way Bob continues..

We also partook of afternoon tea at Raffles [the famous hotel in Singapore], complete with the Gin Slings, but a warning to other BLB readers. Their afternoon tea is nothing like ours. Cheers, Bob." Cheers indeed I suspect the 'Tea' is 100% proof Bombay Sapphire! Anyway click through here for a shot fropm Bob's balcony...even I think it's impressive....

See what I mean...? That Bob Tuck, he certainly gets around a bit. And in the meantime do post a comment on your favourite blogging snack...Pork pie? Tea and biscuits? Haggis with neeps and tatties?

You're right of course! A nice bottle of Rioja, Gran Reserva if I have been a good boy together with a home-made paella complete with a dozen or so langoustines! How good can it get? Sorry , must get back to the paella!

The strange DUKW is actually called a LARC V ex US military and dating from the early 1960s It had a 5 ton load capacity and a Detroit Diesel V8. It was built by either Le-Tourneau- Westinghouse or, in this case, Condec. there were two or three of these in service on Jersey operating a service from St. Helier to Elizabeth Castle these had the distinction of being the only passenger vehicles on the island that required certification under the island P30 (oversized vehicle) scheme.

The LARC V was the smallest member of a family of similar vehicles with the medium sized LARC XV(15ton, 2xV8s, Fruehauf built) and the gigantic LARC LX (60ton, 4xV8s, also Fruehauf)
