Mystery 4x4s on Bigloryblog... It's not a Land Rover...or is it?

Vic Hungerford has sent me these pictures of a mystery 4x4 and says: "Hi Brian, I was wondering if any of the army know what these vehicles are and anything about them? Not really big lorries, but interesting vehicles all the same. If Rod Simmonds knows the answer he doesn't get a pie because he already owes me one, same applies to AtkiPete! Cheers, Vic."

Thanks Vic well it looks a touch Land Rover(ish) but that would be too obvious...wouldn't it?  A locally face-lifted Austin Gypsy perhaps? Or a similarly downunder domestic International Scout..? You tell me?

Now click through here for a really shocking picture!

I can hear Biglorryblog's Aussie readers now: "Strewth!!! Who let the Sheila drive the ute?!"

Martin_Slo:

It's the NZ-made Skoda Trekka.

Peter Lynch:

Cunning Kiwis, The sheila's name is Sheila but the 4WD has got me stumped, maybe a fibreglass bodied Landy.

Vic Hungerford:

Sorry Pete, but it's a steel body, with a removable fibreglass canopy on some of them, and nothing to do with Land Rovers

Vic Hungerford:

Pretty well right, Martin; it was actually just called a Trekka but it was based on the Skoda Octavia Combi chassis and the body was built in NZ. Although it looks like a 4x4 it actually only had 2-wheel drive (rear wheels)
