Page 3 Girls, Glamour Pusses, and custom airbrushed trucks...is it really art says Biglorryblog?

'The Boss' has sent me this terrific selection of air-brushed autos and relates the following tale: "Poverty staring me in the face and the bailiffs knocking at the door----but this week the 'real boss,' (i.e.she who must be etc) went out and bought a painting from local artist Martin Bush. It's an 'abstract' , large dollops of coloured paint dumped in the centre of an even larger canvas and spread around with a trowel, you couldn't make it up and price, well the same as two new tyres...!"

He continues: "But it sent me down the road thinking about art,in particular truck art. Travelling around the Market in Perpignan in the South of France I had to take a double take on the paintings on the side of this Volvo unit----driven by Juan for Eurocorreas out of Murcia in Spain the quality of these paintings was in my opinion 'exceptional'."

"Juan, bienvenidos en Biglorryblog, gracias Amigo!" says The Boss. Yea....what he says goes for me says BLB. Meanwhile, back to The Boss...who adds:

"Fairly standard today is a mural on the side of a cab, such as the snow scene on this particular cab. But for a pie, if you're really smart, what unit is it?"

"And here's a close-up of that mural. Don't know how I remembered but these paintings reminded me of a chap called Alberto Vargas[1896-1982]famous way back for his pin up paintings." Yep for all you young whipper-snappers 'Vargas Girls' regularly appeared in US magazines including, I think, Playboy.

Anyway The Boss concludes: "So don't you bloggers get too excited---just join my new art appreciation society and let's find the best piece of artistry on a vehicle, worldwide. Oh! and this is what she tells me is a new family heirloom! The Boss." And here it is....you know I rather like it. I could live with this. And it won't depreciate like a 40-tonne tractor either! Just remember, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Bob French:

The US bonneted tractor has got to be of Paccar origin; I'll go for a K-whopper over a Pete.
(I'd love a strawberry-rhubarb pie if it's in season).
By the way, my daughter studied French at l'université de Perpignan...nice area on the Med, and the wine is dirt cheap.

A votre santé,
Froggy.

Peter Lynch:

I wouldnt mind driving that Volvo, might be hard to keep my ageing mind mind on the job. The blue truck looks like a Freightliner ?

Ian Walker:

It is a Kenworth T2000 with a 72" aerodyne sleeper and not as popular as you may think.
North American truckers, for some reason, like their trucks to have all the aerodynamic qualities of a house brick.

Vic Hungerford:

I'll go for a Kenworth T2000, and I think the reason they are not popular is that they are actually quite ugly in real life; they actually look better in a photo.

Peter Meilink:

Yip, it's a Kenworth T2000 alright. I saw one of them parked up in a truckstop last week in Brisbane. They are as rare as hens teeth over here (Australia).
