I gather that Wrexham-based, Rockrite Haulage - trading as Eco-Readymix - has purchased their first-ever Volvo truck from Thomas Hardie Commercials. And what a smart beast it is too. It seems the newly-formed 'environmentally aware' business, which supplies ready-mixed concrete, mortar and floor screed across
Naturally to achieve this goal they've specified a 26-tonne Euro 4 Volvo FE with 320hp engine, 9-speed gearbox and cruise control. MD Gary Billington tells Biglorryblog: "Along with a passion for preserving the environment, evolving requirements of the construction industry, coupled with the growing environmental pressures for companies to use recycled materials and reduce the carbon footprint, has inspired the concept of our business."
Gary goes on to say: "There are a number of reasons why're different to others in the industry, including the use of 90% recycled products in our aggregate, mortar tubs made from 100% recycled material and there are even plans for a windmill farm to be erected on site to help contribute to the company's electricity source." As Barney said - The 240 is available at Euro 4 only, but the 280 and 320 are both available at Euro 4 & Euro 5.
So why go to all the expense and not 'do the job properly' ?

I'm a Yank who runs ready-mix trucks for a living, and I'm puzzled by the "levitating" mixer mounted (or NOT mounted) on the Volvo.
The sub-frame of the mixer does not appear to be sitting of the frame of the truck. Instead there seem to be small metal rods holding the mixer above the frame of the Volvo.
My eyesight may well be fading with age, but that picture does not look right.

I thought the same about the mixer, Michael seems to be sitting up on the U bolts.
But I dont agree with the others about Euro 5, why bring this new technology into your workshop any sooner than you have to.

Peter the technology is the same for euro 4/5 SCR just with higher dosage of ad blue. But with the Euro 5 you do get a small road tax rebate and better resale value in the future.
