Classic Bedfords on Biglorryblog thanks to Alex Saville and the Ayr Run..

These pictures of two very smart TL mini artics come to me from Alex Saville via Dave Young (another 'Bedford head'). Dave tells me: "Brian,
some images worthy of Biglorryblog I think. [So do I BLB] Although I drove dozens of TKs I don't think ever sat behind the wheel of a TL. Perhaps someone who reads the blog might give  me the opportunity? Cheers
Dave." So come on, who can give DY a go in a TL?

Meanwhile, Alex says of his pictures: "I was down at Ayr on the Clyde Coast on Saturday to see the vehicles gathering for the 2008 Ayrshire Road Run.
Here's a photo of a TK I saw along with two TLs. Since, like me, you have a soft spot for these 'wee' Bedfords I dont mind sharing them with you Regards, Alex. " T
hanks to dave and Alex for them. I saw the silver TL artic at the Gydon show and took a pic for BLB but not as nice as this one! Now click through here for a TK....

And for a very easy-peasy pie what's standing next to the little Bedford? Come to think about it, go back to the two TLs too and tell me what's standing next to them as well!

Cam McFadyen:

Hi Brian, the TK has got an F model Mack beside it,the other two are a pommie ERF (tricky),and it looks like some sort of Ergonomic cab in the other pic, unless you poms call them something else, as used on Oil Engined Lorries,ie Leylands and AEC`s in OZ,all the best Cam.

Richard Stanier:

Poms in the know call them "Ergomatic cabs" on account of that being their name! However some of our number (like our beloved leader) do call them "ergonomic" but it's not really correct.

AEC never used the "E" word at all in their descriptions, prefering to stick with "tilt cab". I guess this was a rather unsuccessful attempt to differentiate themselves from Leyland.

The one in the photo has narrow wings, so it won't be an AEC, and given it's parked up on Low Green in lovely Ayr, my money would be on it being an Albion rather than a Leyland.

The Sanray ERF is an artic with a set-back front axle so that would make it an A Series, and the Cummins badge equals a 64CU model.

Following on from Cam I would add another few digits to the Mack and say it's an F786.
