the r600 mack and, as they say in the usa an xke (e type roadster in the uk)make this the opening scene from a film i love and have loved since i very first saw it,"convoy".along with the convoy of classic 70,s american iron.if i,m honest the daf shot and scammel highwayman are new to me.the thames van and old austin?which still has the bloody doors on are both from the brilliant, wonderful and incredibly funny "italian job"

stu:

The pipe-ramping DAF is from Ronin :o)

D Powell:

The Scammell came from 'The Prisoner' I do not remember where in the story but even at the dimensions of the time it was far too big for most of the roads around Portmeirion.

russ hurley:

that opening sequence to Convoy makes my hair stand on end - its THE good.... And the music is ace as well...

I hasten to add, i saw this film 11 (eleven) times at the cinema when it came out. Does that get me to 'superspot' status in the anorak army??? :-)

BDV:

carol:

The Scammell was indeed from The Prisoner tv series and if memory serves, was not used in Portmeirion but in London in the very last episode.
