Does Slovakia have the worst ambulances?

I wonder how many patients the Slovakian health service has lost on account of running crap ambulances. Personally I think I would rather walk!

This communist relic was photographed last week on the outskirts of Bratislava. Does anyone know what it is - or how old it might be?

Any information on this Tatra would be good too.

Richard Stanier:

The ambulance is a Pelucar, I think.

The Tatra is more my bag. This model was in production for many years and in many variants including an all wheel drive version. The model was the 815, and it's probably powered by Tatra's own air - cooled engine in V configuration
