Faymonville's heavy haulage special trailers for the IAA 2008...let's talk STGO says Biglorryblog...

Now here's something you all recognise says Biglorryblog. Oh yes you do. It's the wonderful Faymonville Pendelmax. Well word reaches BLB that it's 'started a new career' thanks to the very latest swing axle bogie and new shape excavator trough. Indeed, Faymonville tells me that the rear bogie of the Pendelmax "boasts a rectangular trough as before---but now with a higher part in the shape of a prism.  The rectangular part can accommodate an excavator arm while the upper part is perfectly suitable as a support for round and long items like the wind turbine parts or tanks. And with a flash of marketing brilliance they have called the new trough "a combined trough". Brilliant!

Moreover, the new Pendelmax also offers a better steering angle having changed the previous ball bearing system to pivot joint thus providing a greater 60° steering angle compared to 50° in the past.  The changes to Pendelmax don't stop there either as Faymonville has also improved its suspension clearance---now at 600 mm instead of 450 mm which allows an operator to better negotiate tricky kerbs and roundabouts. And last but not least, from the second half of 2008, Faymonville will also offer a Pendelmax fitted with smaller tyres while maintaining the 12 tons per axle.  This version will be presented at the IAA show in Hannover. Speaking of which click through here for news of the Megamax at Hannover too....

At the forthcoming IAA show in Hanover, Faymonville will unveil a Megamax lowloader with two swing-axles, which should be of particular interest to transporters from Germany and Eastern Europe. Those two swing axles bring with them a whole host of advantages---like a  lower loading height of 1,050mm on the rear bogie with 17.5 inch wheels, instead of 1,120 mm for a swing axle with 19.5 inch wheels. What's more it's very light, because it weighs only 500 kg more compared to a semi-trailer with 2 beam axles. Faymonville adds: "It should also be said that the 17.5 inch swing axles are noticeably lighter than the 19.5 inch. Because of the load of 12 tonnes on the swing axle instead of 10 tonnes on the beam axle, we gain around 3.5 tonnes of usable load.  The user can therefore decide, for example, to opt for a semi-trailer with 2 swing axles instead of one with 3 beam axles, while keeping a similar load capacity. The swing axles enable above all a better steering angle too and a more substantial suspension clearance. As with the Pendelmax, the swing axle Megamax will be equipped as standard with a combined rectangular, prismatic trough. The latest addition to the Faymonville range has other advantages too, such as compliance with the maximum authorised length of 16.5 metres for a semi-trailer, SNT removable gooseneck which enables coupling to an 8x4 tractor unit. The 2 axle Megamax which will be shown at the IAA will be a double extendable version which makes it even more interesting." I can't wait to see it!
