Here's someone in need of a roof rack, and a roof for that matter

I've just started reading Steinbeck's 'The Grapes of Wrath' for the umpteenth time - which has to be the best book ever written.

Anyway, I'm about 100 pages in, and the Joad family are in the process of converting their 1920s Hudson sedan into a truck. Apparently it was common practice in those days - and there are even rumours of someone in New York City converting a Cord into a pickup truck.

Anyway, this isn't quite so shocking, but still unusual nonetheless. I reckon it's an old Sunbeam racing car. Am I right? Does anyone know anything about old cars?

Vic Hungerford:

I don't know what that car is, but I'm pretty certain it's not a Sunbeam
