There was Biglorrybog just poised to shout: "Oii! Agent Reg! Why haven't you sent me anything lately...?!" And he..errr..does so. And what a smart truck. Yes, machinery and industrial equipment installation and relocation transport specialists Joseph Merritt Group (an established Volvo operator from Kirkby-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire) have just taken delivery of this bright-red Globetrotter XL-cabbed, Volvo FH-520 6X2 tag-axle tractor unit. And why wouldn't you, that's what BLB would like to know? (Is it me or am I becoming more aggressive as I get older..Eh? Eh? Do you want to make something out of it?) Anyway click through here for more and another nice picture and more on Merritt's new mover.

The FH, which joins a 14 strong fleet, is described to BLB by MD Richard Merritt as a 'flagship' for the business. "It shows that the company is moving forward. The FH has great presence on the road and the cab provides the driver with a pleasant working environment. This is important as some of our jobs can be very challenging. Having something so nice to drive can ease those bad days !" How right he is...which I why I always have the trusty Multipla to fall back on to. Anyway Richard adds: "Over the years, Volvo has been an ever present fixture within the company, both as tractor units and specialised crane trucks. With this new FH, I feel Volvo currently has the best tractor unit on the market."
And whay a tag-axle? Well according to Richard it provides maximum manoeuvrability when on site. "As the units will be hauling crane trucks with capacities up to 25 tonnes, being able to get close to the factory door, or even just being able to back the truck inside the works, has great benefits when loading, unloading and positioning the machinery." So now you know. (And thanks Agent Reg).
