The first 'Ultra' Pacifics at work in South Africa---only on Biglorryblog!

Biglorryblog's man in South Africa Dennis Child, general manager of ROTRAN multi-axle and proud owner of some of the last remaining 'Ultra' Pacific heavy haulers in the world has sent me this photo selection of Ultra Pacifics in SA...'when they were young', i.e. circa 1977. Great stuff Dennis! And love the VW micro-bus too!

The high-up driving position looks VERY strange, but the far-and-away vision for the driver must have been pretty good, even if you couldn't see the bubble car you'd just run over!

Nice load 'spread' to keep all those bridge engineers happy....

Dennis tells me: "This shows the first load ever moved with the Ultra Pacifics in 1977 for SASOL, a  260-ton washing tower."

And there's that yellow micro bus again. Who did that belong to Dennis?

Cracking pictures Dennis...!
