Aldi trials Krone reefer. And it's had anything but a 'cool reception' says Biglorryblog.

Never mind 'Mum's gone to Iceland.' Growing supermarket chain Aldi has taken delivery of its first Krone Cool Liner trailer at its Darlington depot. Biglorryblog understands that the smart semi was "...built to a strict criteria laid down by Aldi and will be closely scrutinised during its operation to ensure it meets the high standards expected of the Aldi fleet."

Apparently, Aldi use its Darlington site to test the specification and suitability of a whole range of vehicles and equipment before adding companies to their preferred supplier lists. They operate a fleet of over 330 delivery vehicles with depots and stores all over the UK. Now click through here for more...

The Cool Liner trailer operates as both a chiller and freezer, depending on the needs of the load, and has been built with a lifting axle and rear steering. Fleet Manager Alex Turner was impressed with the build process used by Krone as well as the 10 year anti-corrosion guarantee."We put a spec sheet together of all the requirements that suit Aldi and Krone has been able to build us a trailer to fit our needs" he tells BLB "They worked very closely with us and have come up with a great product to add to our fleet".

Krone is the first trailer manufacturer to market a refrigerated trailer with GPR or Steel sandwich panels. The Cool Liner Duoplex GPR and Steel refrigerated trailer is easy-to-clean, decal-suitable and has 100% CFC-free sandwich panels. Standard components, from the running gear through to the rear lights, allow the highest possible operating reliability.

The thickness of the front wall is 60 mm over the entire width in the central recessed area for the air return profiles. This not only means a K-value improvement, but at the same time increases the stability of the front wall. The reinforcement provides a full return air cross-sectional area over the entire inner width of the fridge, which results in improving the energy balance of the vehicle body. In addition, the thicker front wall allows stronger connection with the side panels. So now you know.
