Biglorryblog's 'Man in the North' and the 'King of Classic' Wor Bobby Tuck has kindly sent me these pictures of a splendid travelling curiosity and says: "Welcome back Brian - hope you had a good holiday. Things seemed very quiet while you were away." Thanks for that Bob and to all you who said you've missed me ( don't worry your aim will get better,...).
Hmmmm...tell me about it. But iot certainly beats the much-over-used 'Three steps to heaven!' Here's a bit more artwork to be going on with too.
Bob concludes: "Don't you just love the registration - and don't you just wish the DVLA would allow us to have same registrations like this in the UK?" I do indeed Bob.
Meanwhile, for a 'piesy' what's the truck and what's it standing next to? Rod and Vic---seen this on your travels?

Hi Brian - welcome back from hols, trust you had a good time lorry spotting. Good of you to ease us pie addicts back in gently; the truck is either an Austin, Morris or BMC FJ or it could be a Leyland Laird but my guess is an Austin. I think the one next to it is another Austin - a K2. Best regards, Nick

Blue truck looks like a Morris, the neighbour's maybe a Bedford or Austin. Where are those Kiwis when we need them?

The blue truck is a late model BMC group FJ, The Leyland Laird had a different radiator grill and separate headlights. The red truck, I think, was converted from a Ford Thames ET6 fire appliance.

The Kiwis (well, this one anyway - not sure about Rod) have been away working and there is no internet connection in my truck, Pete!
I have seen PIESY and I thought I had sent BLB a photo before because of the number plate, but maybe I didn't get around to it. It is a 1967 Morris FJK140 with the 5.7 litre BMC diesel engine and still has a current registration (road tax) until March 2009.
I don't know the red one, but it certainly has Ford rear wheels and looks as if it was once a fire appliance, so D Powell is probably correct.

On Wednesday I was driving south and passed through the small town of Bulls, in the lower North Island. There, behind a wire fence in a car dealer's yard, was PIESY with a big FOR SALE notice in the window.
Quite a coincidence after Bob Tuck's photos the other day. Still, as the Aussies say, the whole of New Zealand is just one small town.
