The wonderful world of Hyva. Biglorryblog learns a thing or three in Holland!

Thus does travel broaden the mind....yesterday Biglorryblog took a day-trip to Holland to meet the good folk from Hyva. It's funny how you can pigeon-hole a company based on what you THINK hey do---only to find out that they do much more than you thought. Witness the Hyva Group. Yes we all know they make tipping gear (they're the world's number one ram manufacturer) but what I didn't know was ther global reach of their business nor that their product portfolio included cranes, brick grabs, moving floors systems, body-covering kits,,skip loaders and hook loaders, assorted hydraulic stuf and so on. They're also responsibloe for this magnificent beast pictured above (or at least the body). And for a Global Pie Quiz....what's the truck and can you tell me anything about the body too?

Meanwhile, just to show how global a company Hyva is..it's even had a street named after it in China. Now that is cool....

IMG_2024.JPG,

Ellen Paulusma, group marketing director at the Hyva Group tells me: "The honor was awarded to Hyva China by Guangling Industrial Park because of their outstanding performance and excellent contribution to the local community. This is a great achievement and recognition of our great progress in Yangzhou China."

Does any other manufacturer have a street name like that I wonder? Pictures to Biglorryblog please.and I look forward to seeing 'Foden Drive', 'ERF Way' and 'Seddon Atkinson Crescent'...(well maybe not--though on second thoughts I think there IS an ERF Way)

Meanwhile, if you're stumped by the pie quiz click through here for the answer....

I was fascinated to learn from Hyva Group CEO Louwrens Dijkstra that it licence builds the Dennis Eagle Phoenix 2 refuse body under licence in India (where Hyva has a lot of business there including manufacturing and Dijkstra reckons it's THE place to be). The Hyva-Dennis Eagle body is then mounted on local chassis including this Tata. It looks rather neat

Meanwhile, I've noticed some rather nice pictures of Hyva products on US trucks in th4e company's latest news bulletin so I'll ask Ellen to send me some and post them up.And why not visit Hyva's website on www.hyva.com to see what else they do.

I assume its a Tata 35-Series?

There's a Foden Street in my home town of Stoke. I suppose it's due to it being a local name rather than after the lorry though.

Richard Stanier

There's a Guy Street too - mustn't forget that!

We can beat that. There is a suburb of Melbourne called Campbellfield that streets named after some of the famous truck manufacturers: Foden, Scammell, Dennis, Thornycroft Reo and Leader. The finest name of all is missing but if you go to the new Google street view at http://maps.google.com.au/maps?ie=UTF-8&hl=en&tab=wl you will see one parked right there in Reo Cr.

Sorry that link isnt working but the area I am talking about is in Campbellfield. Melbourne Victoria.

But is that truck in STREET VIEW an Atki or "only" an Inter?

"Oh no", I can hear the Poms saying, "those two aren't going to start that argument again, are they?"

Peter Lynch

It looks seriously like an Atkinson 4870, if you get into street view, pan around you can see the badge on the drivers side. There is a big A on the front and the driver is smiling so must be an Atki. You need to be in Reo Cres, Campbellfield 3061

Vic Hungerford

I'll have to agree with you, Pete, it really does look like a genuine Atkinson; if it isn't, someone has done a seriously good job of facelifting a T-Line
