Bedford TK launch.JPG

I discovered this Bedford TK sales aid tucked away on my desk top yesterday---I must have had it for a long time but can't for the life of me recall who sent it to me...although they probably do! Anyway, I thought it was time we celebrated a true light truck classic (well Dave Young likes them anyway).but here's a question. For a pie, what would have been the date on this brochure?

Well at least I know who took this..the old Malteezer himself Ashley Lovering. I wonder when this TK started its life..

The TK Bedford first appeared in 1959, so presumably that would be the date on that brochure. The Maltese one is a later model (BEDFORD on the grille instead of above it) but the date would only be a guess.

I thought it was 1960 or 61, perhaps they took a while to get here. The Poms should know this one from the number plate.

In answer to Peter Lynch, 'A History of Motor Vehicle Registration in the United Kingdom' by the late Les Newall gives the date of the
YBM nnn series as August to October 1959. I would therefore estimate this late numbered plate as issued in October 1959.

Old age seemes to have shortened your memory there Vic. Allowing for the "Mighty Boy" photo it must be a draw at the moment. Cheers Pete

Two stroke

BLB I sent you the Scans from the launch mag in 1960 as the driving position and layout was so revolutionary from the step ring entry on the S type.

the tipper is a 75/76
