Mr P Symons sent me these pictures for inclusion in Truck & Driver's Picture Post section. That's exactly where I intend to put them - but was hoping to find out a bit of information about it first.
In his letter he says: "Perhaps some of your readers might know the identity of this vehicle pulling an ancient two-axle trailer. It was photographed at Clackett Lane clockwise services last year. I think it most probably has mechanical trouble as it was parked there for a few days."
So what was it originally used for? Was it a mobile home, of maybe some sort of car transporter?
To me it looks like a bloody big Austin Cambride estate.

Isn't this one of the BMC competition car transporters from the late 1960s? I think there's a similar one restored.
This is a 1963 BMC Training Unit, designet by Pininfarina and build by Marshalls in Cambridge.
I think the chassis were BMC/Morris FFK 140, wheelbase 205". Perkins diesel 5.1 litre, 105 hp, or 5.7 litre, 120 hp.
This is one of about 15 build. There is also build six similar units, but slightly different in the front and rear, and the side mouldings. This one have rear lights from 1959 - 1961 Morris Oxford V. They were equiped with several training units such as: Gearboxes, diesel equipment, hydraulics, and so on. Used to train BMC and Nuffield mechanics around the world. There were six serving North America. There is one here in Norway. You can see more pics and text at my photo album at:
