Time for Rodders' daily contribution from New Zealand and what better way to start that with that ahhhh...ARGOSY moment with these terrific twins from Brausch Trucking both with a Hummin' Cummins Signature 620 under the hood and with an auto behind--they're both used on long-haul reefer work..

.
Nice pix Rod, thanks...now click through here to see a full-length shot of the Jennings big rig...

Smart outfit--not so sure though about the need for those 'Hi-Rise' air filter intakes!

Love them Argosys.
Your question about the necessity for the high-rise filter intakes raised an interesting topic.
I live in the USA now, but grew up in Blighty and became familiar with Euro Cab-Over trucks and their fairings, skirts and whatever. I often wonder the effect on domestic US oil demand caused by the USA big-rigs. They have zero aerodynamic efforts, hulking great engines and - more seriously - travel at up to 70mph. 4mpg is not unusual and when you consider the sheer quantity of them on the freeways....
Locally, a trucker was pulled running an 18-wheeler at nearly 100mph a few years ago and the local rag explained how - to be eligible for US Govt work - trucks have to be powered such that they were capable of that speed. For commandeering purposes in a time of war, etc.

Didn't Rod tell you, Brian? We've had a bit of flooding here lately!
