IAA vintage stuff 032.jpg

Wandering around the IAA Show I stumbled across this cornucopia of classic and vintage German trucks from the 40s, 50s, 60s and 70s...'Himmel, das Blogfodder!' I exclaimed. So if you think you know your trucks have a go at these....virtual Bratwurst for prizes obviously..so lets kick off with the above smart aero cabover...with all of them I want make, model and anything else you know....

IAA vintage stuff 038.jpg

This was a  VERY obscure brand of delivery van..or at least I'd never heard of it. See how you get on with it!

IAA vintage stuff 034.jpg

Nice cabover tanker..but who made it? It said on the doors to the Hall 'No photographs'  like I'm going to obey that right?

IAA vintage stuff 027.jpg

This should be easy.....but how old is it?

IAA vintage stuff 029.jpg

Touch more obscure though funnily enough I featured a more up to date version on BLB quite recently...now click through here for more....

IAA vintage stuff 047.jpg

This one is full of 'Eastern' promise...oooh  but I spoil you lot with my free and easy clues..

IAA vintage stuff 026.jpg

But I'm not going to help you on this one....

IAA vintage stuff 030.jpg

Or this one...as if you needed help on it..

IAA vintage stuff 054.jpg

This is probably not going to give you too much trouble.....

So which of you has got the most sausages...? And there's more to come.

The white van is a Barkas Framo and Have some idea that Mr. Shears did an entry in the trck and van blog on a beer truck from the same mnufacturer. the yellow drawbar truck is a FAUN and for more details on German buses and trucks, both new, reasonably new and historic there is a very good website (in German) www.olafs-fotoseite.de

Guten Tag:
I'm not good on year & model nos. but I recognize quite a few "Lastwagens" from doing my national service in BAOR in the '50s; usually the ones with the round side mirrors. We even had the odd Krupp 4 X 2 in our own fleet.
The second fire engine, by the way, has gotta be a Krupp.
As regards Bussing, didn't MAN take 'em over?

Prosit! Froggy.

We didn't have many European trucks out here until the late 60s and 70s when the Merc 1418 made a huge impression. There were attempts to sell Mercs before this but for some reason, German stuff wasn't popular after the war :-) There are still a few around however. So I hope you will be forgiving if these guesses are way off.

The first one doesn't look like any Merc cab over I have seen so I am going for a Hanomag Henschel some time around 1970 when Mercedes took over?

Second one is a 1939-1943 Framo V 501/1 Einheitstyp 750kg, 2-cyl. 490cc, 15hp I thought Barkas was the later van? (Related to Trabant)

Henschel F221

Henschel H 140 - 1967 ish -taken over by Rheinstahl who owned Hanomag. Absorbed into Daimler Benz in 1970 - last Henschel badged trucks built in 1969.

Early 50s Faun - heavier than a Sepp which was the 140 hp 7 tonner. Sorry don't know model

IFA W50 - Industrieverband Fahrzeugbau (Industrial Association for Vehicle Construction), usually abbreviated as IFA, was a conglomerate of companies in East Germany producing bikes, motorcycles, light commercial vehicles, automobiles, vans and heavy trucks - included Trabant, Wartburg, Barkas, Robur, Multicar, Simson or MZ were part of the IFA.

Büssing BS 11 Kipper

Merc L series but which one? We had different models to Europe and I don't know them all but will suggest 1924?

About a 1960 Opel Blitz 3 tonner - Bedford TJ similarities?

Krupp S960/12 or similar. Badge on the front is interesting as it looks like V8. They made a 265bhp V8 just before they stopped production of trucks in 1968. Usually these had Krupp licence built Cummins V6-200 motors (wonder if Krupp could build them any better than Cummins could - a high revving disastrous hand grenade!). Prior to that, they had 3,4,5, and 7 cylinder uniflow 2 strokes

Grey Krupp is AK 380

Opel Blitz is surprisingly 1973- old left over Bedford J body presses used :-) ?

The Merc L looks like a 1928. I think this is a version build for the middle east. It did stay in production till around 1990.

As far as I know, the Bedford J and Opel Blitz did share the cab (based on a US design)
