I have Ashley Lovering , the old 'Malteezer' to thank for these two splendid shots of Thames commercial vehicle. And looking at th eone below you can see how people end up confusing it with the Leyland Comet and Dodge Kew (though naturally only the latter apperaed in 'Hell Drivers'. And for a quick pie what the was name of the character played by Herbert Lom?

Though no doubt all your experts will tell me it's easy to tell all three apart from each other...well anyway click through here for a Thames that's deliberately 'bus'king its life away in Malta...

Bob Tuck:

I've very fond memories of the smaller of the two Ford Thames. My Dad had a 15cwt / 1 ton van version and driving this at an illegal age was how I learned clutch control. Three speed, column change gearbox and room for someone to sit on the flip forward engine cover. Great days out with my Mam & Dad - can't recall where my sisters sat.

Gino Rossi.....I'll get my knife and fork!

Hard to confuse the three but the cabs were all built to much the same design by Briggs Motor Bodies.

Dave Powell:

This bus really is a Thames ET7, but trying to identify old Maltese buses like goods vehicles is a difficult process as most of them looked like a Bedford SB and had badges for whatever the owner fancied. The chassis was often adapted from old miliary vehicles left after the war. See www.maltabuses.photos.gb.com for more details.
