Papa's got a brand new bag...actually it's a Peterbilt but Biglorryblog will explain

Ace trruck painter and classic and vintage vehicle restorer (and eagle-eyed Biglorryblog regular) Andrew Cooper has been out shopping and he tells me: "Hi Brian, I have been classic truck shopping again. This time I've found precisley what I want on American e-bay---a 1983 Caterpillar-powered Peterbilt 359, with a 13-speed Fuller and 63-inch sleeper box. All in good running order and still being used up until four months ago."

Andrew continues: "She requires painting and bodywork---though that's no problem to us! The vendor will dolley the truck from Ravenswood, West Virginia to the docks at Baltimore Maryland.[Via 'country roads' perhaps?] She will then be released from the USA, then with the help of Rybec Shipping of Kent be loaded onto a RORO ship and 20 days after leaving the States she'll be in Southampton. I hope to be able to collect the truck from Southampton during October/November.will keep you informed how the restoration progresses, regards Andrew."

Well BLB expects nothing less than a step-by-step (with pictures naturally) weekly report Andrew!

Vic Hungerford:

That must be THE classic North American owner-driver's truck, Andrew. I'm looking forward to the progress reports and photos. Which engine has it got, a 3406?

andrew cooper:

to be honest i am not too sure if it,s a 3406.i think the vendor (bill) said it,s a b?model cat.as for the narrow cab again will wait until the ship docks at southampton to confirm.i will be boring the blog/anorak army with regular updates once the restoration kicks off!

Vic Hungerford:

I'll be interested to find out when it arrives, Andrew. It could be a 3406B which was a pretty common fitting in those days. You can be sure you won't be boring this part of the army with your updates, that's for sure. I'm looking forward to them, so don't be shy!
