Following on from Phil Sampson's post about his experience with the Kraz trucks used in the clean-up operation after Hurrican Ike had clobbered his holiday hotel in Cuba Martin 'Keeper of the Flame' Phippard has sent me this black & white photo and says: "Hi Brian, The little Russian-built MAZ 205. If you look closely you can just see the chrome emblem representing the Auroch (heavy-duty ox) on the side of the bonnet. This was a rare extravagance for the 1950s in the Soviet Union! Cheers! Martin."

Auroch was also used as a model name on a very small number of Alvis Stalwart amphibians sold to the French Army in the early 1960s. these were caleed Alvis-Berliet Auroch and Berliet supplied the BAOR with a small number of 6x6 recovery trucks under the same agreement

Hi everybody. I`m from Russia. Exactly saying - this is MAZ 203 from 40`s years! It`s very rare now and only some trucks like this now in Russia. So good picture!
