Scammell three-wheelers live on...in Malta. Biglorryblog is in 'three minds' as to whether he likes it...

And here it is. This picture has been provided to Biglorryblog by Tony Cauchi in Malta--who recently started off the blogging stream on Britannia dustcarts. However, this time he says: Hi Brian, I thought I'd show you this small truck that I saw yesterday in a Classic Car Show....it's a Daihatsu but seems to be copied off the old Scammell Scarab.... In the meantime I'm trying to figure what that stirrup device is around the front wheel...and can you guess (for a pie) what it's parked next to? To see a bit more of the load-carrying part of the three-wheeler (and the car next to it) click through here...

Quite a neat little package..I wonder if there's a three-way tipping version?

The unit around the front wheel is a special wheel clamp as a normal clamp would not fit on a three wheeler. I believe that there was a similar Mazda which was rather larger

I suggest the stirrup is for hand-towing the truck, or reverse parking by hand, with the aid of an extension pole.

Maybe this would be a contender for Pete Lynch's "World's Smallest Ute" competition.

And the car of course is an MG B; I didn't need the second photo to get that, either!

Tape measure may be needed here Vic, the tray is much bigger than the Mighty Boy but overall it may be smaller.

Brian,

I reckon the three way tipping version just includes a pack of Shredded Wheat for the driver who then only need grab it by either side or front and lift.

Best wishes,
Roy
