Scania Centurions and Michelin men. We're talking the latest edition of Truck & Driver on Biglorryblog!

They don't make 'em like that any more! Yes in the latest edition of Truck & Driver out on November 2 you'll find a feature dedicated to Ashley Pearce's magnificent Scania Centurion--and that's it pictured above taken by T&D's ace snapper Tom Cunningham

You'll also find a full history of Centurion, the UK's very own  '100 club' and the man behind it David Burke AND a heck of a lot more too. For example T&D editor Will Shiers has gone mad and is giving 50 (yes count 'em) 50 Michelin men away in a special reader competition

And talking of giveaways together with the RHA, T&D has come up with a free "Without trucks the UK can't deliver!" bumper sticker, in the same issue, which you can put on the back of your waggon to show how much you care about the business you're in. As if that wasn't enough there's also a feature on the last ERF ever made (it's not in a museum). And to prove it here's a picture of said ECX.

Add to that a special user guide to the three different makes of digitachs, an investigation into side-swipes and of course the latest Shobba cartoon----so what are you waiting for? Make sure you get your November edition of Truck & Driver on Thursday! No wonder it's Britain's best-selling road transport magazine! Now click through here for a couple more clasic Scanias.....

Starting with this original Scania 3 series V8 143 500 Strealiner from 1991 (was it really that long ago?) the wind-cheating Streamline was said to offer fuel savings of up to 5% over the old slab-front 3-series cab. A real smoothie...

And not to be left out this Ausie roadtrain spec R143 with a 470hp V8 and electronic diesel control which in 1998 won International truck of the Year . There now, don't say I don't spoil you. And for a pie what was the 2008 ITOTY?

Vic Hungerford:

Just to show that I have heard of European trucks...........the 2008 ITOTY was the MAN TG Series.

I actually drove a MAN (422 model, I think) for 9 months a few years ago. The MAN sales manager brought a demo tractor unit to the firm I work for and suggested that I use it for a week or so and report back. Nine months and 90,000km later a different MAN sales manager turned up at our yard and asked for it back. The original sales manager had left the MAN dealership and gone to work for Cummins shortly after leaving the truck with me and hadn't told any else where the demo truck had gone. It was only discovered when someone from MAN saw it being driven around Auckland with one of our tanker semi-trailers behind it.

True story!
