Biglorryblog's man in Queensland and supplier of bepoke and finely-built sliding-bodies and other custom bodywork to the gentry Cam McFadyen has sent me more pictures of RFWs--the Aussie's very own cabbed crusader...Cam writes: "We built this for Yidney Jack on Fraser Island about 5 years ago." Yidney jack..? Is that the name of a company or a bloke. If the latter what a fantastic moniker?
Nice slide-back. Why are they so popular Cam? Is it because there aren't too many loading docks up in Queensland and Northern Terrirtories?
That cab looks pretty non-nonsense too..now click through here for a quick pie quiz and a look at where all old trucks end up....
Yup...the elephant's graveyard. So it's an RFW in the middle but what are the two trucks sitting next to it?

looks like White RC and old Volvo N Series
KW 124/144 and an N10/12 Volvo?
The tilt/ slide trays are used to shift vehicles, plant, empty containers, site sheds and anything else that can be winched or driven aboard. Can carry goods on pallets but these would normally be forked on and off from the side. Note the heavy duty running rail for ropes, chains, loader binders and anything else that needs securing.
RFW I work there 30 years ago and have an interest in finding the old girls.
There are a fair few on the Sunshine & Fraser Coast QLD.
Where is the wreckers yard in the photo and do you have the chassis number?
Any RFW info is welcomed>
Thanks Mark
I worked for RFW for many years building trucks and the odd bus chassis.
I see Mr Whitehead ( RFW) regular.
I have plenty of photos of the trucks we built.
John
Would be interested in seeing any RFW photos John, we dont want them to become " Australia's Forgotten Truck Builder"
