GOAL!!!!! Word reaches Biglorryblog that the company which specialises in supplying goalposts and other football stuff to some of Britain's best-known clubs has beefed-up its own team by 'signing' (get the footie theme coming out here?) a real three-pointed star! Indeed, according to the PR blurb: "Fast-growing Mark Harrod [that's the company that's growing fast not Mark--BLB], has just bought a 7.5-tonne Mercedes Atego. The little 818 high-roofed sleeper has a 7.7-metre long curtainsider body allowing it to carry aluminium goalposts and cross bars (they're not made out of wood any more) up to 7.6m in length. Which begs the question, for a pie...what are dimensions of a football goal--in feet AND metres please.
Although his company has only been trading for four years boss Mark Harrod has a long track record in the industry and now supplies equipment to Chelsea FC, as well as Championship clubs like Birmingham, Coventry and Leicester City. Other customers include the FA as well as local authorities and schools - Now click through here for more....
Mark Harrod supports the beautiful game at grass roots level and sponsors the Staffordshire County Youth Cup and Birmingham County FA Sunday Youth Cup; it also assists Jonathan Gribbin, a blind player who competed for Britain at futsal - an indoor version of football - in this summer's Paralympics in Beijing, where the team finished fifth.
