Did you know, and not alot of people know this...that for every tyre that can be recycled you can save 68-litres of oil and 4kg of rubber..and based on an average weekly production of 3500 tyres moulded over 52 weeks that means that every year, Bandvulc http://www.bandvulc.com/ is saving the planet some 12 million litres of oil and 8 million kilograms of rubber. That's pretty coool I'd say.
And why am I blogging on Bandvulc, well I'm not (well I am) but not so much about them, as about the fact that the Bandvulc group has taken their first Monityre tyre pressure monitoring device from Safe Europewww.safeeu.com. According to Bandvulc group MD Patricl O'Connell ""We run a fleet of 25 vehicles in our distribution fleet and fuel costs form such a big part of our day to day expenditure. Correct tyre pressures play a key role in helping us to optimise our fuel consumption and overall running costs, which is why we talked to Safe Europe about its Monityre TPMS." Bandvulc's first Monityre TPMS was fitted in August and so far the company is extremely pleased by its performance to date. According to Patrick "Monityre is working well on our first vehicle. It does what it says on the tin, in other words, it sets off an alarm in the cab when there is a potential tyre problem. It couldn't be any easier for the driver to operate. At the same time we know that the vehicle's tyres are at the correct pressures all the time, hence running as efficiently as possible."
Already, within a month of it being installed, Monityre has proved itself to Bandvulc. "We had changed a tyre on the particular trailer fitted with the Monityre system and shortly after setting off, the driver was alerted by the alarm going off in the cab. Initially thinking that the Monityre system may be faulty as it was showing a warning on the newly fitted tyre, the driver did stop to check and found that the new tyre had been incorrectly inflated and was indeed outside the tyre tolerance limits, therefore reducing its efficiency out on the road and subjecting it to adverse wear and tear,"
