I was searching through my collection of old press pictures today, and came across these Eddie Stobart pictures from the mid 1990s. Although the photos are only 13 or 14 years old, it's incredible how dated the trucks look today.

Jeannie is one of only 2 trucks on this blog that are still working for a living today. The MAN first went on the road in July 1995.

Veronique, an ERF EC10, was last taxed in 2004.

This Leyland Daf 95 330, which went by the name of Dominique, was also last seen on British roads in 2004.

Chelsea lasted an extra couple of years, and was last heard of in April 2006. She could of course have been exported for a new life elsewhere.

I'd completely forgotten that Stobart ran any Magnums. Does anyone know how many they had in total? One for you RoadRat?
'N1 ESL' is still going strong today, although presumably not under the name of Colette.

According to the DVLA, Philippe (the Volvo FL10 nearest to the camera) was only four years old when she was taken off the road.

Sarah Elizabeth, another Leyland Daf 95, did rather better, and was 11 years old before disappearing from the DVLA's records.

the first time i started seing stobart's in any number, was in the late 80's in the now demolished ebbw vale steelworks (south wales) loading tinplate using ford cargo tractor units that would really struggle on the a465 heads of the valley road going to and from ebbw vale.
i was looking for a wee pic of an eddie named "ashley" or similar but i'm failing miserably. perhaps you might have one or two. btw yeah the old eddies look dated now but that how i remember them from i were just a nipper in the mid 90's visiting my gran in blakpool from glasgow on the M6 and the stobarts were all over it... you've made me a nostaligic old fart!!!!
