That's got to smart... Well believe it or not, amazingly, "the driver of this walked away unhurt" says Robert Peel, Masternaut Three X PR wallah. How, I have no idea... I'm just gald he did. What's more, Robert tells Biglorryblog, "The Masternaut telematics 'black box' continued to work, tracking the vehicle to a repair site a hundred miles away. This system also validated the speed of the vehicle before the crash. Anyway, since Masternaut Three X has just launched a safer driving competition I thought this photo might be useful!"

Drivers will be monitored closely using GreenerFleet, an innovation from Masternaut that was first developed to help fleets to reduce carbon emissions. Fleets using this system soon realised that careful driving not only cut fuel consumption but also led to improvements in road safety.
The quarterly competition will total £10,000 in prizes and donations in its first year. In addition to the quarterly awards, there will be an annual award for the best driver of the year. To enter the competition fleet owners and managers will nominate and sign up their drivers via the GreenerFleet website. GreenerFleet will then monitor each driver in real time, measuring their driving performance, including the number of breaks they take, their speed and also their fuel consumption. Driver data will be extracted from GreenerFleet at the end of each quarter and examined by experts. To ensure that the competition is run under the strictest of conditions it will be judged by a panel of industry figures, including:
Former Chief Constable and UK Government 'drug czar' Keith Hellawell,
Simon Reynish - Freight Ambassador for the North West for the DFT's Freight Best Practice Programme,
Keith Robson - Group Director of Transport Services at Unipart,
Rob Wright - National Logistics Controller at United Biscuits, and
Martin Otter - Director of Innovation at Masternaut Three X
"A moments lapse in concentration when driving can have horrific consequences for anyone, however, those who drive for a living are especially at risk because its more common for them to be overtaken by exhaustion or become 'zoned out'."This must be addressed if we are to reduce death and serious injury to themselves and other road users," comments Dr Keith Hellawell QPM, former Chief Constable of West Yorkshire. "Masternaut Three X's Drive For Life is the type of initiative firms and individuals must embrace if we are to hit the Government's targets for 2010 and make inroads into the pain and suffering road accidents cause".
