What's the worst job in transport? Well whatever it is Biglorryblog reckons the 'cone men' deserve a medal----not least in light of my recent blog on the perils of working by the roadside. But here's a tricky old task... Putting out cones on the move from the 'prone' position... Look closely below and you'll see one of RH Plant Hire's plucky operatives in the midle of the smart new Volvo FL doing exactly that...

Obviously a two-man job. And I wonder how many fall over? Judging by the way I see blokes chucking them off the side of cone trucks not too many. Though clearly there's a 'knack' to it. So, for a pie, what's the record for the fastest deployment of two miles of cones? Questions, questions, questions, it's always questions with you Biglorryblog! So what's the answer. Anyone like to have a guess? Sounds like just the kind of brain-teasing problem that Two-Stroke likes to get his mercurial mind around.

Meanwhile, Agent Reg tells me: "The Newcastle-under-Lyme plant hire company's trust in the quality of Volvo Dealer Hartshorne (Potteries) back-up was a fundamental part of their decision to buy their first ever Volvo truck for use deploying traffic management schemes to protect the workforce engaged in road maintenance work." Prone position? Looks like the Hi-Viz pants leg of the cone-man in a basket on the side of the truck bed. I think he's standing up.
We have aided the design of several Automated cone trucks, some very good times ahead :)
