OK this is definitely the last one for today! Gil Wortsmann over in the US (a long-time supporter of Biglorryblog and expert on 'Twin-Stick' tractors) has sent me this shot of his mate in Germany Wolf-Michael Hack. He says: "This is the truck and coach driver you 'featured' in one of your previous Bigloryblog blogs. Then, you had added something about a German plated RENAULT with a fellow carrying a handful of dust. I had sent a YELLOW cap to Wolf-Michael a while back. YELLOW is the 3rd largest LTL (less-than-truckload) company in the US-roughly 8,000 tractors, a few rigids and about 40,000 trailers, give or take several thousand. My son worked as a mechanic for them for about 27 years (starting at the age of 20) and then began driving for them. From time-to-time he would drive 'doubles' over the road for YELLOW." Gill tells me a 'double' = one tractor pulling 2x27ft trailers. And as the Irish say, 'HAPPY YEAR TURN.' (Meanwhile, perhaps the Keeper of the Flame has some Yellowtruck shots to share?)
For those wondering what this is all about, Wolf-Michael is a long-standing penpal of Gil who says: 'During the morning, he is a high school teacher. This is one of his lighter loads. Usually, he pulls sawdust, , I assume these logs are about to be turned into it!" Not a bad load at that Gil.
