Ashley 'The Malteaser' Lovering has sent me these two cracking shots of VW camper vans (are they Combis? or even Kombis? And if not what's the diference between a Combi and a Transporter?') Ash says: "These fine VW's may be of interest to the viewers. I have been out and about photographing VW's for friends. I am off to Malta for 2 weeks over Christmas and on the look out for lorries I have not seen before."

A kombi is Combination IE Seats that fold away for other uses and transporter is a box van,Thus you can have a Combi that is based on a transporter but not a transporter based on a Kombi. Kombi is a the variant. VW has a rich history in development of ideas, the fiirst Transporter where made from Bettle parts for the rebilding of Germany (1945)and to house the postal service lacking brick and morter. Concrete crews needed to haul four men sand cement and a mixer thus the first crew cab with a tray or bed on the rear
Not so easy to count the Campers as while Westfailer was "factory" in OZ and the USA other plants did this convertion.

I looked up the VW Camper vans. It is different that represented good value. Volkswagen had given up on all but the camper version.
