Biglorryblog's man 'North 'o' the Border' John Henderson sent me this selection just before Chrismas and says: "Seasons Greetings to your good self and all the regular bloggers, it's been another great year for BLB. I've attached a timely image of a Volvo FH that shows even though we're in the middle of winter, 'Summers' are never that far away!"
After that awful pun (forgiven) John goes on to say: "You asked about A&F Grant in your Foden yule log blog: They are a highly regarded Scottish outfit, founded in 1943. Still a family run concern, Grant's specialise in timber and tanker work with a fleet of around 40 trucks consisting of Renaults, Scanias and Volvos, which are peppered with a few Hinos in the rarer tractor unit form. Foden was the mainstay for decades here and there are still some Alphas left, but of course these decrease in number ever year."
John adds: "I've also attached a pic of a Grant 1980's Foden, a recent Renault tractor and the back of a LAG tank." Now click through here for more....
"As this fine firm usually feature a local scene for following motorists to admire! (in this case Ballindalloch Castle, which is just along the road from their depot.) A&F Grant's large farm / haulage HQ is as close to heaven as you can get. Located in the beautiful River Spey Valley, it is surrounded by several top quality malt whisky distilleries. Best regards,
John
Cheers John and I trust you'll have a wee dram of 'The Water of Life' on New Year's Eve? Ironically I sat down and watched a DVD of 'Whiskey Galore' this afternoon. Perfect cold weather viewing!

Brian, the water of life from Scotland is WHISKY, not WHISKEY! How could you?
WHISKEY (with an "E") is that other fine spirit from Ireland, or that other stuff from the US.
Spelling the Scotch version with an "E" is sacrilege. The original Mr Grant (William) must be turning in his grave.
glad i wasn't the only one to notice that
