Clutchslip at Autosport International 2009

Last year's illustrated report from the Autosport International racing car show at the NEC proved popular, so here we are again with the trucking(ish) highlights of the opening day. The show continues until Sunday, and it may be your only excuse to visit the NEC this year!

Sadly, Subaru's withdrawal from the World Rally Championship means the team's shiny Renault rig may not be seen again for a while.

ASI09Subaru.JPGShowing great faith in hydraulics, Formula Renault shelters beneath latest transporter trailer from Brookland.

ASI09Brookland.JPGCwmbran-based SCS can always be relied upon to exhibit a smart Merc conversion, and this year's Atego 1524 didn't disappoint. 7.5-tonne example tucked around the back features 200hp.

ASI09Atego.JPGI know there's at least one fan of stretched limos in our readership, so this is just for you (and no, it hasn't been Photoshopped!).

Surely this Kumho Dakar support truck should be pounding the Argentinian pampas instead of posing at the NEC?

ASI09Kumho.JPGYes, we've all seen a monster truck, but it never hurts to have another look!

ASI09Bigfoot1.JPGFor the mechanic who likes to take his work home, how about the Trailerlift, which will lift a 3,000kg vehicle to give 1,800mm of working room?

And finally, on the Team Dynamics stand, the family business of touring car ace Matt Neal, his young cousin was helping keep the display stacks tidy.
