Seeing as how futuristic trucks seem to float the canoes of various Biglorryblog contributors and readers I found these in my picture file and thought they deserved another trot out...starting with the angular Daf XFC 'Xtreme Future Concept' tractor...who knows maybe this is actually the XF105 replacement!

Next we have the equally knife-edged Forumla 1 artic from Mercedes from the pen of Biglorryblog's favourite truck designer Bertrand Janssen the father of the Daf Super Space cab and Merc's fabulous Actros Space Max.

But if you're talking about concept trucks there's really only one geezer that takes the top prize....and that's the wonderful Luigi Colani the radical autmotive designer who in the 80s developed a whole string of concept future artics including these two---the one of the left was powered by a Daf drivetrain, the one on the right by Mercedes bits....and click through here for more from Mr Colani!

Wonderful variation on the theme---note the round windscreen and rotating wipers! And from the front end...

And Trucker magazine in Germany has recently driven one of the Colani artics..lucky them! Meanwhile this link takes you to a good website which cover the Colani motors in detail

Not sure what the driveline is in this one...unless that trailer is in fact an enormous rocket booster! Fantastic stuff!

Those are not the original 80s Colani trucks that was exclusively Mercedes, which was around so early in the 1980s that it could now qualify to take part in next years steelboys convoy - don't suppose it would look that great with a coil carrier on the back.
One thing is for sure what ever the age these trucks are unique and still have that "Dan Dare" wision of 2000 look about them.
