Dennis Child, the man with the best toy set in the world and general manager of the South African specialist heavy haulers Rotran Multi-Axle has sent me these shots: "Fresh out of my CANON camera 36°C in Richards Bay!" he says. And a nice 'old and new' Mercedes double-header  to kick off with.

Nice Axtros/Titan 8x8--note the extra tres on the back of the ballast box! Meanwhile Dennis has some new gigantic beam trailers in build and he tells me: "My monsters will depart RB Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.Best regards, Dennis."Now click through here for another of his morning pictures...

Nice old MAN 8x8 with a Powerliner pushing at the back...36 degrees...that must be pretty hard work Dennis!

Finally thanks to Dennis's generosity I still have a couple more of his fantastic ROTRAN 2009 calendars sitting by my desk. And they are BIG! On a first come first served basis if you fancy one drop me your full address by e-mail to brian.weatherley@rbi.co.uk

STOP PRESS: Sorry all the remaining calendars are now gone! Those who have e-mailed me I'll reply to personally.

I'm looking forward to seeing photos of the new trailers. Thanks very much for the absolutely amazing calendar which I received a couple of days ago from BLB courtesy of Dennis; I don't think I've ever seen such a good calendar.

Does anyone have more technical background on these tractors? It looks like the rear axles have no hub reduction. Which is a bit strange. You can't buy a Mercedes heavy haulage tractor without it.
Back in the days, the MB powerliner did even have hub reduction on the 4x2 versions.

And the titan looks like a 8x6 version.
