Graham Bellman has oviously ben rootling through his collection  of old truck pictures as he has sent me these shots and says: "Brian, some pics of that famous Oswestry hauliers trucks, Caddies...proprer!"

He goe son to say: "Caddies also carried out of Shotton steel works, I seem to recall they were one of the last firms to be still running 88s in the 90s?"

And of course the other claim to fame of Cadwallders was that editor of TRUCK Georege Bennett. Now click through here for more...

Chatting with another former driver Len Evans yesterday I understand that one of the Cadwallader brothers has sadly passed on quite recently.

SUJ 241R MUST be an F88 and not an F89 - it's a right-hooker

Ian Taylor

I saw the photo in the September edition of Truck and Driver,in the Truckstuff pages,of what was said to be "A Volvo F89 in "Caddies" colours".
The registration number is RWD 239R.
Now I worked for Chapman and Ball from Stoke on Trent from 1977 until their demise in 1979,doing the Middle East run.
We had a pair of left hand drive Volvo F88's,one was RWD239R,and I drove the sister,RWD 240R.
I have a photo of RWD 239R in C & B's colours clearly showing the F88 badges on the doors, and it has the narrow rediator grille.
So,how did it become an F89?

Cadwalladers and George Bennett, TRUCK magazine editor.

What exactly was the connection between Cadwalladers and George Bennet, the editor of TRUCK in late 1980s or early 1990s? The relevant sentence under pic. no. 3 seems to be incomplete?

All the best,

Andrzej

Hi Andrzej,

George used to drive for Cadwalladers--that's the connection.
