Following yerstday's post from Vic H about his delivery runs to NZ Wineries I asked him if we could see a few more shots of his beloved International. Well he's gone one better. " Hi Brian, 'm sure there have been enough photos of it on BLB already, but this morning I was parked up next to this magnificent machine. It's a Mack Superliner, powered by a Cummins Signature (definitely 15-itres, not 16-itres so I've found out!) with an Eaton Fuller 18-speed automatic gearbox." And there's Vic's beloved Inter sneakinjg into the shot on the right...Look at the difference in height in the bonnet! That Cummins Signature is a big old lump!
Vic continues: "I took a few photos in spite of the bad light, and just to please you I included a couple with a small bit of the International showing as well. Notice how small the Superliner makes the International look! It is owned and operated by Carl Urlich who often works out of the same places that I do so I know him and the truck well. It is just 3 years old and has done 600,000km so far which compares pretty well with the 5 years and 700,000km for my Inter, but his has been double-shifted quite a bit whereas I have done virtually all the kms on the Inter."
I know you think European trucks are the bees knees, but I hope you will be objective enough to admit grudgingly that this Superliner really is quite super! Cheers, Vic." WEll not just super Vic, but Super Dooper...and click through here for one more shot.....
And just to remind all of you...this is a DAY cab!!!!!. Great stuf Vic. I'd love to have a go at this.
Great shots Vic and as an ex Mack employee I still have a soft spot for the big old Bulldog. It's just a shame that they had to drop the E9 V8. NOTHING else ever sounded as good as that motor! Thanks for sharing.
I would almost agree with you Martin about the sound of the Mack V8, except that the Scania sounded virtually the same when fitted with the same mufflers; the two motors of course being very similar.
I mentioned a few days ago about being parked between a Mack Ultraliner and a Scania 143; they were both fitted with twin vertical exhausts and the same make of mufflers. I couldn't have told you which was which if I was just listening with my eyes shut. They both sounded just great!
Cheers, Vic
