Tony Cauchi---Ashley Lovering's chum in malta has kindly send me these shots and says: "Hi Brian its been a while since I've seen something suitable for your blog so here it is and hope its good. Regards Tony." Good stuff TC, not least as it provides the perfect Sunday morning pie quiz..so for starters what's this above? Looks like the kind of thing AtkiPete and Howard would recognise..?

And for a treat tell me what those two cars are on either side of this mystery motor...

You wouldn't think there'd be enough room on Malta to run a big Mack! But once again Biglorryblog is proved wrong. So model, motor and year please...and click through here for one more.

Frogeye Sprite and Sunbeam Alpine methinks.

andrew cooper

austin healey frog eyed sprite and a sunbeam alpine.late eighties mack superliner? powered by mack's own maxidyne-ish engine?ok,so i'll come clean, cards on the table!with regard to the truck.....i don,t know!

I'm quite sure the first pic is a White W-model from the 40's. The little convertibles remind me of Triumph TR2 and Sunbeam Tiger, but the truck between them is indeed a mystery. To me atleast :D

The truck in the middle of the sports cars is a Ford I think, though I`m not sure. The Mack Superliner would have either the Mack EM9 V8,a Cat,Cummins,or a Detriot.I think you could get whatever you wanted in America. In Australia it was V8 Mack,Caterpillar,or if you ordered enough of them,Cummins.

I agree with Cam on the White and the Mack; the cars are a "bug-eye" or "frog-eye" Austin-Healey Sprite and a Sunbeam Alpine, I think, though it could be a Sunbeam Tiger. It's a bit hard to tell from that photo - the Alpine had a Rootes Group 4-cyl engine and the Tiger was a Carroll Shelby modified version with a Ford V8 engine. It had a bulging bonnet and a slightly different grille, but you can't really tell from that photo.

I'm not too sure about that truck in between; although the badge looks oval I don't think it's a Ford. where's Howard when we heed him???
