Now here's a bit of a rarity...it's not often you see a short-wheelbase Sprinter with a high roof....and here's a whole herd of them. And with blue lights on the top too. So what are they? The new fast-action Black Maria (OK the new fast-acting 'Red and White' Maria)? Nope they're just some of the latest eleven refrigerated van conversions completed by GRP for the National Blood Service. And such is the strength of the partnership between the two organisations that GRP has built no less than 27 refrigerated conversions for the National Blood Service in the past seven years. 'O(+) I say!' 'That's B(-) good!'
The four 'shorties' seen here all have dual-compartment GRP van conversion bodies and will be used by the National Blood Service for collection and deliveries in London where access to hospital premises and on street parking is restrictive. The other seven follow the standard NBS/GRP spec by all being Sprinter long wheel base vans, with their refrigerated bodies being converted to triple compartment refrigerated vehicles at GRP's Leeds manufacturing site in Farsley.
Funnily enough Biglorryblog has just had another one of those nice invitations to give blood myself. They're always after me for some strange reason. Maybe it's because my blood is only found in 8% of the European population...(ooooooh.... get you, yer Big 'ed!). So can you guess what blood type it is?

OOFT... lucky you ey ;) maybe you should accept n give a lot of blood then :D
