Last one for today...and talk about your ultimate, go-anywhere, do-anything, up to its neck in muck and bullets and shrug-it-all-off monster machine! Behold the mighty Foremost Husky 8 and Biglorryblog has Andrew Parkhouse to thank for tipping me off to the superb Foremost website full of photos and videos of various big muddy lorries and caterpillar-track titans! And here's the link <http://foremost.ca/index_vehicles.php>

And there's isn't much a Husky 8 can't do from haulling oil pipes on the flat bed as on the top picture to having a full workover drilling rig, crane, water tank and fire-fighting gear on the back like the one below.
Your Husky 8 comes with a Cat 3406 engine with 460hp and an Allison auto box to power you through the clag and with a fording depth of 6ft it's damn near a roadgoing submarine! Payload is an impressive 36-tonnes.

The Husky 8 is made by Foremost of Calgary in Canada, which makes all kinds of other exotic oilfield and drlling rigs. And you can see from the above shot how wide the tracks are and how low its ground pressure will be....snow, slush, swamp or sand--nothing's going to stop this baby!

And if you think the Husky 8 is impressive then click through here for you ain't seen nothing yet!

And here it is the Super Commander 8x8 seen here moving a drilling rig. With a 485hp Cummins QSK and a Clark Powershift transmission it's just right for hauling loads up to 27-tonnes. And no JB you can't have one....

This Commander C 30-tonne 6x6 version is seen here operating in a desert in China....Just look at that forward ground clearance!

Another six-wheeler this time shifting a drilling rig...welly time. Meanwhile checvk out the weblink to Foremost it's a great site.

The super commander c is a michine that I am very familiar with. I operated it from new. I drove it out of the factory in Calgary Alberta. I ran it in canada till it went to Madagassar in 1984 till 1987. Then it went to Somolia for 1 job till 1988. Then it went to Yemen for a while then to Saudi Arabia where it is now. It is owned by Nabors drilling and they dont use it much, just around the yard a bit. I dose not have a QSK engine, it is the older version, the KTA-1150. 525 horse when new but when we sent it to Madagascar we cut it back 450. We also had the 6 wheeler one in the bottom picture, It came from Alberta also. The orange Husky8 in the picture pulling the 2 slieghs. I ran that one up in the Arctic. That very well could be me in it when that picture was taken. I have been more then 30 years running these type of oilfield machines. Just a note- The super C hauled loads up to 40 ton many many times. I would suck a load on the bed and hook up to 16 wheel hiboy with an 8 wheel converter under the front and away I would go.

movin rigs here in alberta now a days its not at all uncommen to be movon lots of 40 ton loads with the 6 wheel drives and 50 ton plus loads also. just gets a little light on the front end some times does a little dancin when gettin into postion but will usually get er. makes rig moving alot easier .Commander is an appropiate name as your usaally movin when every one else is stuck.improves the whole move, from not breakin your big beds, savin your location, and a all round easier more flexable rig move.
