Flaming heck Grommit! What's going on here! I have Peter Murray to thank for sending me these images (not sure where he got them from but if the photographer wants a credit then just post up your details). Anyroadup " Hello Brian, " says Peter. "A couple of Queensland Australia mining misadventures for you."..

Peter continues: "Fire in the hole! From the Blair Athol Steaming Coal Mine in Central Queensland  - this coal seam is long noted for self igniting - and as you can imagine - any outbreak needs quick attention. As is happening here - back in about 2004."

Peter explains: "From the Saraji Coking Coal Mine also in Central Qld - earlier this year. A spectacular transmission failure on one of their many heavy haul dumpers. Puts a whole new meaning on the old description for this sort of event - like - 'I think the gear box has just S#@T its self". Is this an example of - 'where a picture is worth a thousand words'?"
