"MOVING HOUSE?" asks Rod Simmonds in New Zealand whio has sent this little selection to Biglorryblog.. Well I wasn't planning to Rod.

I Rod continues: "I found this Pacific and house trailer parked in Pukekohe wanting for night run. It's an ex-Murupara logger I reckon, has new number plate but I am sure super snoop Vic would be able to find out..."

What I can't figure out is why the trailer needs to jack the house up so high....what's all that about?

Rod adds: "These trailers are made by MTE, Hamilton and exported world wide-any in Blighty?" No that I know of Rod..and click through here for a closer loook at the weird semi...

And just explain again...why does the house have to be jacked up on  the trailer like this?

maybe the house lives on legs and the trailer lowers it onto them? or its built on legs and the trailer jacks it up to load?

Park them up like this to keep the little darlings giveing the huose a bit of added paint work, venting the plaster board, reducing the glazing for easy exit etc etc but on the road gets you over bridge hand rails sign posts and such ..levels it up on slopes just to useful on site lifting the house out. But dig the crazy half breed hood, I like the factory front but what ya gona do.
Still diggin

Need to clear the fences..........

Stephen

My guess (and it's only that) is that they need(ed) the clearance to move it off an existing foundation, or to clear the house's new foundation when it has reached its destination.

Synchronizing the lowering and raising of all of those lifts would be tricky, and not at all good for the house if they're not done correctly.

Cynthia

I'd imagine the house is up that high, while parked, to discourage stowaways....or the like!
This is a pretty common thing in New Zealand. I've sold and shifted a sleepout and the original cottage off my place to make way for my new house. Saves on demolition costs and provides some $ to pay for the replacement.

So if a bridge has collapsed, which they do in small, remote countries, they can still cross a flooding river without the house floating away....I just wonder if it might not be easier to sell the house and carry the money?

Another one has been found it seems, does anybody have contact information for the owner of this truck. I would like to add the truck to the registry at my website www.pacifictruckclub.org along with photos or anything else that we can find. If you are wondering, the truck is at earliest a 1985 model Pacific P510PF.

We lift these house moving trailers while waiting to transport to keep vandals clear. We also need the lifting to get over obstacles on route. This house was transported from Pukekohe to Levin over a two night period. This Pacific truck and house moving trailer is owned by Baywide House Movers Ltd, which is a Hawkes Bay based company. We will move houses anywhere in New Zealand. Please feel free to view our website, www.baywidehousemovers.com

well its up in the air as the last guy said to stop the little buggers tagging etc
the house came out of Pukekoe and went to levin left at 10:30 that night, overnighted in Taupo and the next night down to levin, the truck was driven by Brendon, and he did a fantastic job as always, and Sandy was the N#1 pilot with rodger, dave and myself completing the team (in case you have missed it, i know this because it was my move) and for the person who guessed that it was a MTE trailer, not quite it is a TRT (Tidd Ross Todd) traier, you need the lift to clear obstructions, however it is jacked on and off the trailer will Manawatu Hydro jacking plant if you think that this looks cool, if anyone wants them i will post the photos as we lifted this house over two others getting it out of the site, now that was cool
